Walk the Parks — Privacy Policy

Effective September 18, 2026

The short version: Walk the Parks does not collect your data. There are no accounts, no servers, no advertising, and no tracking. Everything the app knows lives on your phone.

Health data

With your permission, Walk the Parks reads your step count and walking distance from Apple Health (HealthKit). This data is used for exactly one purpose: advancing your virtual park journeys inside the app.

What the app stores on your device

Your journeys, passport stamps, settings, and hiker customization are saved in the app's private storage on your phone and included in your normal device backups. Deleting the app deletes this data.

Purchases

The Full Passport unlock and the Expedition packs are one-time purchases processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your payment details. Purchases can be restored on a new device through Apple's standard restore mechanism.

Analytics

The app currently logs feature-usage events (such as “journey started”) locally on your device only, for debugging. If a privacy-respecting analytics service is added in a future update, this policy will be updated first, and no health data will ever be included.

Photos and content

Park photographs are loaded from the U.S. National Park Service's public media servers. Requesting an image tells that server your IP address, as with any web image; we add no identifiers.

Children

Walk the Parks does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The App Store age rating is 4+.

Affiliation

Walk the Parks is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Park Service, the U.S. Department of the Interior, or Eastern National’s Passport To Your National Parks® program. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Changes and contact

Material changes to this policy will be noted in the app's update notes. Questions and requests: walktheparkssupport@gmail.com, or see the support page.
